police-light-bar1.jpgArrests for driving under the influence in the Bay Area have increased this holiday season in comparison to 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Police have made 40 DUI arrests in the Bay Area between Dec. 24 and Dec. 25, according to the CHP. The number is up from 39 DUI arrests the CHP made last year.

No fatalities were reported during the CHP’s holiday enforcement period and none were reported in 2009.

A total of 258 drivers have been arrested on DUI-related charges across the state during the CHP’s holiday enforcement period.
