Whew, I’ve never been so glad to see the fog rolling back in! The west side was melting…

If you’re a fan of documentary films, we’ve got a couple of interesting ones playing in the ‘hood. For the former geeks and lovers of geeks, The Balboa Theater is screening “Whiz Kids”, a film about a diverse group of high school students competing for a national Science Fair award.

Music fans should head to Golden Gate Park this weekend for the free Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival, featuring one of the most eclectic lineups you’ll come across. Dust off your jam pants for MC Hammer on Friday morning, Fountains of Wayne on Saturday, and Indigo Girls, Patti Smith and Emmylou Harris on Sunday. And if you must drive, here’s a hot tip: some of the elementary school lots near the park will be offering all day parking.

If you live in the 94115, 94118, 94121, or 94129 area codes, then you have a golden ticket this weekend which entitles you to free admission to the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. Don’t miss the penguin feeding, live snake demo, swamp talk or sharks and rays.

I’ll leave you with a “things that make you go awwww…” story this week. A furry fellow from the Richmond named Ozzy went missing at our local Safeway after his owner tied him up outside while shopping. Ozzy disappeared, shacked up with some pitbulls and had his 15 minutes on YouTube during his misadventure. What came of Ozzy? You’ll have to click to find out.

Have a great weekend everyone!
