monopoly_money.jpgYesterday, the Board of Supervisors approved a $2.4 million settlement agreement with a man who was hit by an SFPD officer while crossing the street.

The accident occurred six years ago when Carlos Garcia, then 21, was walking in a crosswalk at Mission and Cortland Ave at 7:45 PM. The police officer alleged that Garcia was crossing against the light and was drunk. Witnesses say that, actually, the cop sped through the red light with no lights or sirens on.

The Board of Supervisors approved the settlement in a 11-0 vote. Due to the accident, Garcia now has a massive brain injury and the city of San Francisco is out 2.4 million dollars.
