sfpd_crimescene.jpgSan Francisco police today are investigating the “suspicious” death of a woman whose body was found late Tuesday in the Mission District.

Police were called at about 11:30 p.m. to an address in the 2000 block of Mission Street, where the body was discovered.

Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Andraychak said an anonymous male caller had reported the death, but was not there when officers arrived.

A man believed to be the same caller called the Police Department’s Mission Station later in the night to “turn himself in,” but then never showed up, Andraychak said.

The deceased woman is believed to be in her late 20s, according to police.

The medical examiner’s office said this morning that she has not yet been identified.

The cause of the woman’s death has also not yet been determined.
