San Francisco police today are investigating a series of armed robberies throughout the city overnight.
Information was not immediately available from police on how many of the armed robberies reported between 9:40 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. today are believed to be connected.
At 9:40 p.m., two men, ages 29 and 30, were robbed at gunpoint at Webster and Sacramento streets in Pacific Heights, according to police. Wallets, cash and cell phones were taken.
At 11:05 p.m. a 25-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint at Van Ness Avenue and Beach Street near Aquatic Park, police said. The robbers made off with his cell phone and Bluetooth headset.
At 11:30 p.m., a 29-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint in the 100 block of Laguna Street in the lower Haight neighborhood, according to police. Stolen from that victim were a cell phone, gym bag, kneepads, wallet, bank cards and cash.
At 12:30 a.m., a 28-year-old man was robbed of $150 in cash, a debit card and his Social Security card, according to police. The exact location of that robbery was not immediately available.
At 1:20 a.m., a 29-year-old man was robbed in the 1000 block of Sanchez Street near 23rd Street in the Mission District, police said. His wallet and cell phone were taken.
Victims in each of the robberies reported being robbed by two Hispanic men in their early 20s, according to police. In the first three robberies, a handgun was seen; in the last two, one of the suspects simulated a handgun under his sweatshirt.
Two other armed robberies were also reported early this morning in San Francisco’s Tenderloin and North Beach neighborhoods, at 1:50 a.m. and 3 a.m. The suspect descriptions in those robberies differed from the previous five.
No arrests have yet been made.
Police Chief George Gascon has recently noted an increase in street robberies in the city and cautioned residents to be aware of their surroundings.
