Immigration officials arrested a 42-year-old man Thursday night at the San Francisco International Airport after learning he was wanted by international police for an alleged strong-arm rape in Honduras, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
The suspect was attempting to board a plane bound for El Salvador when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered during a routine passenger list check that the man had an active Interpol warrant.
The warrant was issued in 2005.
Officers confirmed the man’s identity and warrant status and turned him over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, who completed the arrest process, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
