a_soccer_ball.pngAmidst the whole World Cup craze, the San Francisco Public Library is having it’s own soccer-themed giveaway to score a goal with children and teens about reading.

The SFPL bookmobile and Friends of the San Francisco Public Library teams up with San Francisco Recreation and Park Department to give away sports books and soccer balls at Civic Center Plaza tomorrow, July 3rd at 11:30pm.

While the quarter final match broadcasts live on the big screen in Civic Center, children and teens can show their library cards to win books or mini soccer balls. SFPL’s children and teen librarians compiled this list of soccer books to give away.

What: SFPL and SF Recreation and Park Department books and balls giveaway
Where: Civic Center Plaza (Polk Street between Grove and McAllister or between the Main Library and City Hall)
When: Saturday, July 3, 2010, 11:30 a.m. during the world cup quarter final match (see the Civic Center soccer screening schedule here)
Cost: free
