There ain’t no bunnies at this hop. The third annual Sockhop pairs hip hop dance groups showcasing their moves with a downtown party atmosphere. The event’s main goal is to raise funds for local youth and young adult dance programs.

Local hip hop darlings Funkbrella Dance Company presents its own groups–Funkanometry SF, Project EM & De La Femme (a special collaboration set), and the Funksters–while also playing host to crews from around the country like Choreo Cookies from San Diego and FR3SH Dance Company from New Jersey. Yes, people, New Jersey hip hop. The only situation will be the one on stage or on the dance floor. No bump-its allowed.

Gina Rosales, executive director, says, “We’re extremely proud to debut the new routines we’ve been working so hard on in 2010, as well as host such an amazing roster of guest companies and dancers.” Check it out.
