sfpd_squad.jpgThe discovery of a “suspicious package” shut down an intersection in San Francisco’s Excelsior District for three hours today while a bomb squad was called in, police said.

A lone briefcase was spotted at Mission Street and Onondaga Avenue shortly before 10:30 a.m., police Lt. Lyn Tomioka said.

The bomb squad was called as a precaution but the briefcase turned out to be empty and streets reopened at about 1:30 p.m., she said.
