ice-cream.jpgAre new ice cream flavors like new beers or cheeses? I don’t know, but am dutifully reporting that, according to Max Nelson, a very nice PR person who has emailed us several times, the Ben & Jerry’s at Haight and Ashbury (do I really need to Google map that for you? Come on.) will be encouraging you to try their four new flavors for 2010 this Saturday from 12-3.

The new flavors in question: Chocowlate Chip (yes, that’s the spelling), Milk & Cookies, Peanut Brittle, and Pomegranate Sorbet. (You might have already been exposed to some of these flavors at free cone day.)

On the Pomegranate Sorbet front, Max helpfully checked for us and verified that it is, indeed, vegan — though if you’re that into vegan shit, you’re probably at the SF Vegan Bakesale at that time. You can sample all these flavors for free — which, yes, you can sample ice cream for free any time in any Ben and Jerry’s, but perhaps you are seduced by the newness of these particular flavors? Or you can use some electronic mechanism called Mobile Spinach to get half off pints of the stuff during the event.

Our friends at Funcheap SF say there’s also going to be free samples of a “Ben & Jerry’s Iced Joe coffee drink.” Max didn’t mention the coffee thing to me, but Funcheap knows what it’s talking about.

Max says that “anyone can show up at the store and taste the samples,” provided you neither sit nor lie! OK, I made that part up, especially since maybe you can sit or lie if you are civil? It’s safe to assume that if I down a pint of ice cream, even if it’s half off, I will not be civil, and will, indeed, need to sit and/or lie down.
