The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District is holding the first of three open house meetings this evening to gather public input about proposed bus service reductions on commute routes and increased toll rates on the Golden Gate Bridge.
The open house is between 4 and 7 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 101 McInnis Parkway in San Rafael.
The proposal to charge a $3 carpool toll on the bridge, increase multi-axle toll rates and eliminate low bus ridership commute routes or segments of routes in Marin and Sonoma counties and in San Francisco are in response to a projected $132 million, five-year revenue shortfall.
Open houses on the proposals also are scheduled for April 13 at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds and at the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza Building in San Francisco on April 15.
There will be public hearings on the proposals May 12 in San Rafael and May 14 at the Toll Plaza Building.
