bocce.jpgA 50-foot tree fell and is leaning against a building near San Francisco’s Washington Square tonight, a fire dispatcher said.

The tree fell at about 7:10 p.m. at 478 Green St., the dispatcher said.

The tree hasn’t completely fallen yet but was leaning against the building. City building inspectors went out to inspect the scene and crews were expected to remain there overnight while authorities decide what to do about the tree, according to the dispatcher.

No injuries have been reported, he said.

The building is home to Bocce Cafe, an Italian restaurant that normally remains open until 10:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Ramon, the restaurant’s manager, said the business closed early tonight though because “we wanted to make sure something doesn’t happen” that would cause injuries to customers or employees.

He said at 8:30 p.m. that the tree was leaning against the building but had not caused any significant damage.
