The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District is holding the second of three open house informational meetings today evening to gather public input about proposed bus service reductions on commute routes and increased toll rates on the Golden Gate Bridge.

The open house is between 4 and 7 p.m. at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma.

The proposal to charge a $3 carpool toll on the bridge, increase multi-axle toll rates and eliminate low bus ridership commute routes or segments of routes in Marin and Sonoma counties and in San Francisco are in response to a projected $132 million, five-year revenue shortfall.

Another open house on the proposals is scheduled for April 15 between 4 and 6 p.m. at the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza Building in San Francisco.

There will be public hearings on the proposals May 12 in San Rafael and May 14 at the Toll Plaza Building.
