Elsewhere: Woman struck by bus in SoMA Ex

A Golden Gate Transit bus struck and injured a pedestrian this morning in San Francisco’s South of Market District.

The bus was turning left onto Eighth Street from Howard Street at about 8 a.m. when it struck the pedestrian, Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District spokeswoman Mary Currie said.

There were no other injuries and the bus was empty at the time. The bus driver had just finished his route and had been returning the bus to a lot, Currie said.

The pedestrian was alert and speaking when she was transported by ambulance to a hospital, but the extent of her injuries was not immediately clear.

Police and investigators from the transit agency are working to determine exactly where the pedestrian was when she was struck, Currie said.

The driver will undergo drug and alcohol testing before he can return to work, Currie said.
