I’ve never liked beer, even in drunk desperation. Beer always seemed to take too long to work. Beer was something I sipped while waiting to get a martini. For these and other reasons, it’s probably a good idea that I no longer drink. But that doesn’t stop me from hanging out with those that do! And as it turned out, SF Beer Week‘s Brewers’ Guild Opening Night Gala was THE place to be on Friday night.
Beth Hondl and I couldn’t help but laugh at this assignment. The title of this video should really be “A Pregnant Woman and a Recovering Alcoholic Walk Into a Bar.” This is why we took experienced beer fan, Adam along as our taster and God bless him, he took his job incredibly seriously. From the looks of it, Adam was in hops heaven.
It’s often a challenge to get folks to agree to an interview on camera. We assure them that we’re really nice, we ask softball questions and it’ll be fun, but our target inevitably asks, “What’s this for?”
With one particularly friendly and red-faced group of guys, I found my new official answer.
“It’s a snuff film, actually. We’re going to kill you while we rape you.”
And with a delighted array of high-fives and “Awesome!” we turned on the camera…
