Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire in an apartment building in downtown San Francisco this morning, a dispatcher with the San Francisco Fire Department said.

Firefighters went to a multi-unit apartment building at 626 Bush St. at around 2:45 a.m. to respond to reports of fire in the building, the dispatcher said.

The one-alarm fire was quickly extinguished, the dispatcher said, and the building was evacuated as a precaution.

A preliminary investigation indicated that fire damage did not extend to the structure of the building, but damaged only the contents of one unit.

No one was reported injured.

The fire is under investigation.
