The National Weather Service canceled coastal flood and high surf warnings for the Bay Area this morning as large waves began to subside, but dangerous shoreline conditions are still expected through this afternoon.
The warnings went into effect at 10 p.m. Tuesday and were expected to last until 4 a.m. Thursday for all the coastlines in the region, but wave heights dropped below 15 feet this morning, prompting weather service officials to cancel the warnings.
Dangerous conditions are still expected near shorelines, including deadly rip currents. Beach erosion is also still possible due to larger than normal waves.
Beachgoers are advised to continue using extra caution throughout the day, according to the weather service.
