San Francisco Supervisor Bevan Dufty will honor an organization of HIV-positive bicyclists today for their participation in the annual weeklong AIDS/LifeCycle fundraiser.

Dufty will present a proclamation honoring the Positive Pedalers, bicyclists living with HIV/AIDS who participate in an ongoing series of fundraising rides throughout the country to raise awareness about the disease.

The event, which takes place at 2 p.m. at the Mezzanine in San Francisco, is also the kickoff for this year’s AIDS/LifeCycle event, a seven-day ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles from June 6 to June 12.

The ride will raise funds for the San Francisco AIDS Foundations’ HIV prevention programs.
