11/23 9:37 AM: San Francisco police are investigating the death of a 33-year-old Daly City man found stabbed in the Mission District early Sunday.

Officers responded to reports of a fight at Cesar Chavez and Folsom streets at about 12:30 a.m.

The officers found the victim, identified by the medical examiner’s office as German Fernandez, lying wounded in the street about five blocks away, at Cesar Chavez and Bryant streets.

Fernandez was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died.

Police believe four or five males were involved in the attack on Fernandez, and are asking any witnesses to call police at (415) 575-4444.

Police said the stabbing is the city’s 43rd homicide this year.

11/22 4:02 PM: Police in San Francisco are looking for witnesses today who may have information about a fatal stabbing in the city’s Mission District this morning.

Officers responded to Cesar Chavez and Folsom streets regarding reports of a fight around 12:30 a.m., Sgt. Wilfred Williams said.

Upon arrival, officers found a 33-year-old man lying in the street at Cesar Chavez and Bryant streets.

He was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died.

Police believe four or five males were involved in the incident.

Around the time of the stabbing, several people in vehicles may have witnessed the incident but maybe didn’t realize what was transpiring, Williams said.

“We encourage possible witnesses to come forward with information to help us solve this crime,” he said.

It is unknown if the stabbing was gang related. No suspects have been arrested, according to Williams.
