Where else can you watch artsy films while sporting a fake mustache? Nowhere else, that’s where. This month’s screening at El Rio is called “I Am Thankful For Hand-Made Films”:
These hand-made films have been self-processed, chemically manipulated, painted, toned, soaked in the Atlantic Ocean and buried underground. The results of such experimentation peel back layers of emulsion and awaken embedded celluloid grain-giving their pictures the bubbling textures and rhythmic color shifts that can only come from hand-made films, which we are thankful for.
