An Oaklander won the Nike Women’s Marathon on Sunday in 2:58:52. Caitlin Smith headed the pack, and this year there was no “elite” category to cause controversy over who actually won the race. Money raised by runners goes to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. And, because all women everywhere love firefighters, formal wear and little ribboned boxes, firefighters in tuxes handed out Tiffany & Co. boxes containing silver “Run Like A Girl” necklaces at the finish line.
