Before you motor through the Presidio on your way to the Golden Gate, make sure to check traffic. The park’s traffic calming study starts Tuesday and runs til October 29th. Most notably, Presidio Blvd will be closed to cars between the Presidio Gate and Simmonds Loop (here’s a map). Some closures will remain permanent, but Muni and PresidiGo service will not be interrupted. Official statements say these measures will improve the park, whose visitors contend with heavy commuter traffic. Yea or Nay? What, do you hate nature or something?

If you hate communism (I mean “love iconic animators”), then go ahead brave the Presidio’s wilds to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum, opening Thursday. If Chron critic Peter Hartlaub has it right, all the minute details of the animator’s life are on display — even the union busting (but maybe not the disturbing political legacy).
