Aloha from the Richmond District!

It’s all about Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival this weekend. We’re hosting some big rock talent at the 3-day outdoor music extravaganza. Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Black-Eyed Peas, Jason Mraz and about 85 other acts will perform on 7 stages in Golden Gate Park.

Check out my “Resident’s Guide to Outside Lands” to get info on who’s performing and when, tickets, traffic closures, and transportation. And if you can’t make it to the shows, you can catch some of the bigger acts live on Youtube.

Eve got a kick out of a photo I posted this week of the uniquely bookish bike rack that sits outside the Richmond Library on 9th Avenue.

The Legion of Honor is getting ready to host a new exhibition called “Very Postmortem: Mummies and Medicine”. Last week, they took a mummy from the Haggin Museum in Stockton to Stanford Hospital where they scanned it to see what was under all those bandages. The mummy (and his scans) will eventually be part of the Legion’s show. Check out the blog for video and pics of his journey. It’s like an acid-free trip back to 6th grade history class!

38 of our local restaurants made the list of those that have to re-certify their Food Safety managers as a result of a corruption investigation by the City Attorney’s Office. They found that a lot of food safety certifications were issued to restaurant employees who never actually took the exam, got answers during the exam, or saw the test ahead of time. Well, if kids have to go back to school and are expected to not cheat, our restaurants should be held to the same standards, right? 😉

One of our popular pre-schools in the Richmond is looking for a new home. So if you’re a real estate agent, commercial property aficionado or otherwise have interest in helping them out, they’d appreciate it.

Whether you’re rocking at Outside Lands or elsewhere in the city this weekend, have a good one!
