An Oakland man was arrested Friday after police reported he robbed a bank in downtown San Francisco by threatening to shoot an employee.
Units responded to a reported robbery at a bank located at 245 Market St. at around 2:50 p.m., according to the San Francisco Police Department.
The suspect, identified later as James Grimes, allegedly walked up to a teller and demanded she give him money or he would shoot her, according to police. The teller complied and the suspect took an undisclosed amount and fled.
Several officers responded to the emergency and began to search for a suspect matching a department-wide broadcast description. Units canvassing the Transbay Terminal reportedly located the subject and successfully took him into custody after a brief foot chase.
James Grimes was arrested for robbery and burglary of a bank.
