wgirls.jpgWho cares of the Warriors might be on sale (though, fave rumor: Larry Ellison hostile takeover!) It’s time for you to start practicing your Warrior Girls audition routine.

Yup yup. “The dance team of the Golden State Warriors” the “Warrior Girls” is holding auditions 2009-10 squad beginning on Saturday, July 18.

Did I ever tell you that my high school‘s teams were also “The Warriors,” and that our mascots were “The Warrior and Squaw,” who basically looked like characters from The Searchers? Idea: let’s start some sort of agitation to stop calling them “Warrior Girls” and start calling them “Squaws.” Somebody get me IndyBay!

If you’re up for Squaw (it’s a thing, c’mon!) tryouts, they’ll be at “ClubSport” in a place called “San Ramon.”

Be prepared for a time commitment: “the audition process will take place over several days, beginning with Initial Tryouts on July 18 (8:00 a.m.) and Semi-Finals on July 19 (8:30 a.m.). Finalists will then participate in rehearsals on Tuesday, July 21, and Thursday, July 23” They’ll announce who made the cut on their site on the 24th.

There are still slots in this weekend’s $20 prep classes (this is just like the PSAT).

If you can’t make the classes, however, you can check out the audition requirements online, including my favorite: “Full hair, make-up and knee pads are encouraged.”

You play your cards right, and you just might be wearing those knee pads for Mr. Oracle, himself.
