St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival

Green beer is not mentioned on the event site, but there is a petting zoo. It’s all about tradeoffs.

When: Parade is Saturday, 10-1:30, festival is from 10-5
Where: The parade runs down Market from 2nd to Civic Center
What’s closed: Grove Street is closed from 2 to 11, Market is closed from 11 to 1:30
I’m not Irish, how does this affect me?: If you don’t have to do anything downtown, it doesn’t. But if you do, for god’s sake, take Muni metro (that’s any letter bus but the F).

Little Opening Day League Parade

Suck it, O’Reilly. How you like these San Francisco Values?

When: Parade is Saturday from 10 to11:30
Where: From the Presidio parade grounds to Marina Middle School.
What’s closed: Cops will be following the parade and making closures as necessary
I’m not a little kid who plays baseball, how this affect me? If you’re planning a post Union/Chestnut debauchery walk of shame, do it before 10:00.

Emerald Across the Bay 12K

Because who doesn’t love to run a 12K the day after St. Patrick’s Day (observed)?

race.jpg

When: Sunday, 8-11
Where: Here’s a map
What’s closed: One westbound lane of Marina from the Marina gate to Buchanan. The 19-Polk terminal on Beach is moved to Larkin Street at Beach from 6:00-8:30 AM.
I’m not a super jock, how does this affect me?: If you have folks in from out of town, show them the bridge after 11, when the runners will have finished that portion of the course.
