police-light-bar1.jpgA woman was struck by a vehicle as she was walking in a crosswalk in San Francisco's Richmond District on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The 61-year-old victim was crossing Fulton Street at 37th Avenue at about 4:20 p.m. when a vehicle in the right lane of Fulton Street stopped to let her cross, according to police.

A second car driven by a 79-year-old man pulled up behind the stopped car, then went into the left lane and through the intersection, striking the woman, police said.

The woman was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for her injuries, which are considered life-threatening.
