San Francisco police will be participating tonight in a community-organized meeting in the city’s Mission District to discuss two recent sexual assaults in the neighborhood.
The attacks were reported on Nov. 18 and Dec. 8 and both occurred along 24th Street in the early morning hours between 3 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., police said.
In both cases, which investigators believe are connected, the victims were attacked from behind, sexually assaulted and robbed of their belongings.
Tonight’s meeting, organized by local neighborhood groups, is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be held at St. James Catholic Church at the intersection of 23rd and Guerrero streets.
The suspect in both attacks was described as a black man in his mid 30s who is between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall with a medium build. Police also found surveillance footage of the suspect and released a photo last week.
