muni_generic.jpg10:58 AM: San Francisco Municipal Railway light-rail service is back on track this morning after experiencing major delays after a Muni Metro vehicle struck a pedestrian between two downtown stations, police and Muni officials said.

Around 5 a.m. below ground on Market Street, a light-rail vehicle struck a pedestrian walking outbound between the Embarcadero and Montgomery light-rail stations in the metro system’s lower level, according to police.

The pedestrian was taken to San Francisco General Hospital. Police said the victim’s condition was not immediately available.

Bus shuttles were put in place for all lines between the Embarcadero and West Portal Metro stations, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Twitter account this morning.

Those shuttles were in effect until about 9 a.m., when regular light-rail service resumed, according to Muni spokeswoman Kristen Holland.

When asked if the system was experiencing residual delays, Holland said that restoration of regular service was a process but that there are “plenty of trains” in the downtown area.
