dog-holding-gavel.jpgIt’s official: an upcoming mayoral debate is going to the dogs. The adorably named political action committee DogPAC is holding the first-ever, they say, forum to “endorse candidates with strong positions on pressing animal welfare issues.”

Those candidates will answer a series of already-determined questions by moderator Evelyn Nieves, a local journalist who currently writes for the Associated Press.

“Candidates will be asked about their positions on access to open space and outdoor recreation areas and parks, increasing pet-friendly housing, and protecting animal welfare,” says DogPAC.

For more information, visit dogpacsf.org. But be warned: oddly enough, only service dogs are allowed inside the debate venue, so your furry friends will have to count on you to represent their interests in their absence.

What: A Mayoral candidate forum dealing with issues about dogs
When: Saturday, Oct. 1 from 2-4pm
Where: Congregation Sha’ar Zahav, 290 Dolores St. at 16th
Cost: Absolutely free, but you might want to take notes for your pet since they only allow service animals inside
