policeblotter_sfa.jpgAttention Inner Sunset SFians: There’s a groper on the loose. In fact, there may be two of them. A woman was reportedly approached from behind by a man with his pants down who grabbed and groped her chest. The incident took place on the 200 block of Lincoln Way at 11 PM this past Friday. It’s just one of two attacks on women in the area, as the Ex reports.

The other took place the next day on the 300 block of Carl St. At 2:20 AM, a woman was reportedly approached by another man who covered her mouth with one hand and groped her buttocks with the other.

The suspects are “similar, but we don’t think they’re the same,” Park Police Station Capt. Denis O’Leary told the Ex.

One victim describer her assailant as a white man with curly hair and many facial piercings, while the other was white, around 6 feet tall and 160 lbs, with straight short brown hair. The latter suspect also may have publicly exposed himself at Frederick and Stanyan right before the groping occurred.

While some have suggested that two incidents don’t “make a crime wave,” we at the Appeal are going to take a bold stand and say that sexual assault (and, yes, that’s what nonconsensual groping is) is wrong and worth alerting citizens to.

If you have any information on the gropers, please call SFPD at (415) 759-3100, if you’re attacked, call 911, and be careful no matter what neighborhood you’re in.
