Yesterday, a group of swimmers attempted to swim from the Farallon Islands to the Golden Gate Bridge. The swimmers, all from Marin and part of the Night Train Swimmers group, attempted the relay in the name of charity. Money raised by the swim would be donated to organizations benefiting members of the military. Sadly, yesterday wasn’t their day.
A similar swim was called off by the group last June, after a member fell victim to hypothermia. This time, as the Examiner reports, the swim was called at 7:30pm due to harsh water conditions.
Luckily, this time around none of the swimmers were adversely affected by the waters. They say they’ll try the near impossible task again in a month or so — the relay-style swim hasn’t been completed by a group since 1969.
