muni_generic.jpgPolice believe a bicyclist who was injured Wednesday evening in an Inner Sunset crash involving a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus was at fault, a police spokesman said.

A 43-Masonic Muni bus was stopped as it waited to go through the intersection at Eighth Avenue and Judah Street when the bicyclist struck it in the right rear quarter panel at 5:02 p.m., police Officer Eric Chiang said.

The bicyclist had been traveling downhill while moving north along Eighth Avenue and passing the stopped bus, Chiang said.

The bicyclist was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with serious injuries, he said.

A San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency spokesman also said that the cyclist rear-ended the bus.

Following standard Muni procedure, the driver of the bus has been placed on leave pending a drug and alcohol test, SFMTA spokesman Rose said.
