San Francisco Department of Public Works employees will be on hand to clean up after thousands of Giants fans gather for the victory parade this morning, city officials said.

Department of Public Works Director of Communications Christine Falvey said the office has established a small, but efficient army of staff to tidy up the route both during and after the parade.

“All of our staff are Giants fans, so we are really excited to do our part and get the city clean and green,” Falvey said.

The department has placed extra trash and recycling receptacles around the celebration site, Falvey said.

Due to the destruction caused immediately following the Giants’ World Series win Monday night, Falvey said the crew has developed an organized strategy.

“There were a number of spontaneous block parties around the city throughout the night and we worked around the clock to clean those up,” Falvey said. “This is a planned event with a specific clean-up plan to tidy up the route quickly and appropriately.”
