Reader J asked us:
Any word on what happened this morning in front of 1800 Pacific Ave.? There were a lot of police starting around 7:00, and when I went outside around 8:30, there was a medical examiner’s van and a high powered hose was being used to wash blood off of the sidewalk. They whole area was taped off too.
According to SFPD spokesperson Officer Samson Chan, at 6:50 this morning, SFPD believes that a person died after leaping from an unspecified floor of the the 12 story building at that address.
As in most cases that are presumed suicides, few details beyond that are available. Which is fine with us — there are many excellent reasons we try to avoid reporting on deaths that are believed to be suicides. This is as good a time as any to mention that the SF Suicide Prevention is reachable 24 hours a day at 415-781-0500.
