According to SF MTA spokesperson Judson True, 33 Stanyan service has been disrupted since 2:43 this afternoon, when the rear wheel from a bus from that line ran over a pedestrian.

According to True, initial reports from the SFPD say that the injured man was running for the bus as it pulled away from the stop at Fulton and Stanyan and, in an attempt to board it fell and slid under the bus and was run over by the rear wheel.” According to True, the pedestrian’s leg was injured, and he was taken to SF General with “potentially life threatening injuries.”

At present, the 33 is being rerouted around that intersection.

4:34 PM: Becca asks

There are potentially life threatening injuries, but the injured weren’t just backboarded and wheeled ACROSS THE SIDEWALK (or street) to the adjacent St. Mary’s? Or 1 mile away to UCSF? They were carted halfway across the city the SF General?

Huh, well, I dunno! So I took Becca’s question to SFFD spokesperson Mindy Talmadge, who explained that “SF General is San Francisco’s trauma hospital” and is therefore the hospital best equipped to care for folks who’ve suffered serious physical injuries like these (or car accidents, or gunshots, or stabbings, as you know if you read our blotter.)

4:40 PM: True informs the media that the accident scene has cleared and the 33 Stanyan returned to its regular route at 4:15 this afternoon. He also said that reports from SF General , the pedestrian remains “in serious condition.”
