MTA spokesperson Judson True sent an email to the media this afternoon, saying that at 10 AM today, the trolley pole (that’s the sticks that attach to the overhead Muni wires) from an inbound 49 Mission bus got stuck in a “support wire” at Mission and Santa Rosa.
He says “The trolley pole caused the support wire to vibrate, which reportedly dislodged two streetlights on either side of the street,” which I’m hopeful the more Muni-granular of you out there can help explain to the rest of us.
True says one of the streetlights hit a pedestrian, who was transported to SF General with what the SFFD says are non-life threatening injuries. He says “another pedestrian was also reportedly struck by the streetlight but refused aid.”
Apparently, Muni service in the area was disrupted for about 45 minutes, but since this alert wasn’t sent out until 12:03, that seems kind of immaterial.
