Update 9:32: ABC7 is reporting that “The person driving the truck is being investigated for a DUI after an open bottle of alcohol was found under the steering wheel.”

Tipsters alerted us to a “big Muni accident that blocked southbound Potrero” this morning. An email to MTA spokesperson Kristen Holland got us a swift response: she says that at 5:10 this morning, a pick up truck reportedly rear-ended a 9 San Bruno bus. Three people, all passengers of the truck, were injured, and taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The bus did not have any passengers and the Muni operator was not injured.

The 9 and 33 Stanyan lines were disrupted, so service on the 9 was re-routed around the accident and the 33 switched back at 17th and Kansas. SFPD started letting Muni back through the area by 7:55, and by 8:15, the scene was cleared.

Unfortunately, as happens frequently, no alert was sent to riders or 511 regarding this rush-hour service disruption. We asked Holland why that was, but have not received a response. Update: Holland says she will look into why no alert went out and let us know. And you will when we do.
