jin1_0.jpgSF Animal Care and Control is urging* pet owners not to take Spot to see the fireworks this July 4 weekend — they say that the noise and spectacle can freak even the calmest pup out so much that he might try to escape. Says Kat Brown, Deputy Director of San Francisco Animal Care & Control: “We’ve seen too many sad endings that could have been prevented” if people had just kept their animals at home.

On that note, they remind you to make sure your pets have microchips and visible ID tags (we’re partial to the Together Tag, but the engraved ones work fine, too). If you and your pet are separated, this is the best way you’ll find one another.

*Online writers that basically barf press releases back up as news make us want to ralph, ourselves. But, as pet people ourselves, this seemed worth regurgitating.
