San Francisco police are reviewing video surveillance from a Muni bus to try to identify a suspect who stabbed a bus passenger in the city’s Sunset District Monday evening, a police spokesman said.

The stabbing occurred at around 7:40 p.m. on a 29-Sunset bus near the intersection of Yorba Street and Sunset Boulevard, San Francisco police Officer Albie Esparza said.

A man on the bus was stabbed multiple times in the torso by a white male suspect in his late teens to early 20s, Esparza said.

The victim got off the bus and was taken to San Francisco General hospital. He was expected to survive his injuries.

The suspect, who was seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, reportedly got off the bus a couple of stops later and fled.

Investigators this morning are reviewing video footage from a security camera on the bus to put together a clearer chronology of the stabbing and potentially get a more detailed description of the suspect, Esparza said.
