Hey, everybody. Wow, we’ve grown a lot since we launched last March!* In fact, we’ve grown too big for our current server, and are migrating to a bigger one. (That’s what she said.)

If all goes well — and we do not have any reason to believe it will not, as we are in the excellent hands of our own Jackson West and the support team at our longtime host, Laughing Squid — you won’t notice anything as we make this move.

But you never know, right? This crazy internet business can take turns no one anticipated. So we’re warning you all, even though we assume most of you are already checked out, drinking beer, and lighting bottle rockets instead of reading San Francisco’s Online Newspaper.

So, if you encounter any problems as you use the Appeal this weekend, please check our Twitter feed (you do not have to be a Twitter user to check our feed, don’t worry) for site status updates. And if you discover anything really disturbing, please email us at info@sfappeal.com.

To be clear, this doesn’t mean the site’s going dark all weekend, at least, we don’t plan on that. It just means that weird things might happen. But if news breaks, we are on it!

As always, of course, thanks so much for reading the Appeal. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t be big enough to have to move in the first place, which, HEY YOU JERK this is your fault. I joke because normal human feelings make me uncomfortable! Seriously, thank you, and apologies in advance if anything goes funky this weekend — we promise to fix it as fast as we can.

*We find an obsession with traffic only slightly less unbecoming than failing to be transparent/lying about it, so we’ll just say that last month was our best month ever, wanna see? By our estimation, this gives us as much traffic in one month as the comments on an SF Gate article about immigration gets in an hour, so there is still much to do. Tell everyone to read us, damnit! Or to buy ads.

Update: If you’re seeing this update, then welcome to our new server! If you see anything funny — error messages, mangled pages, missing images or the like — please do let us know via email or comments. The URL of the page where you saw the problem, and a screenshot or a copy of the exact error message is extra helpful. One issue we are aware of: most comments published between Friday night (7/2) and Sunday morning (7/4) are not visible on this new build, simply because as you were writing them, we were backing up. We’re sorry about that! You’re welcome to rewrite them, if you’d care to.

A sincere thanks for your patience and feedback.
