Have something to get off your chest? Operators are standing by.
You know the hotel union strike that is happening at the Hilton right now? The one that started at 4AM? Well, it didn’t actually happen in front of the Hilton like a proper protest. It happened behind the Hilton, on Ellis Street. Which is 100% residential. And they have a bullhorn.
The reason I’m emailing you about this is because the only people the protest is affecting (negatively) are the people who live across the street of the back of the Hilton on Ellis. The people who are staying at the Hilton enter through the front, there is no back entrance. They probably don’t even know a protest is happening. My building on Taylor is one building away from the Ellis, but my bedroom window has a clear view of Ellis. Because of this, some asshole yelling into a bullhorn woke me up before 7AM, and I guess he’s going to be doing this starting at 4AM until Saturday? Fantastic. I’m sure this is true for everyone else who lived in my building, and all of the apartments that are on Ellis (at least 4 apartment buildings).
I guess my point is that it paints a bad picture for how out-to-lunch and unorganized the union is, if they think pissing off the hard-workin’ folk who live in the Tenderloin doesn’t matter. There are people in my building who are bartenders, mothers of small children, and the elderly. We didn’t do anything.
Also, the guy with the bullhorn repeated the same thing over and over for over an hour. And you couldn’t make out what he was saying. So he was essentially yelling gibberish into a bullhorn for the entire morning. The government should study and use these tactics when interrogating people, as I was about to go fucking crazy.
