High Surf Expected Until Wednesday Night

wave.jpgThe National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for Bay Area beaches today and Wednesday.

Large swells are expected to hit the Bay Area coastline beginning this morning at 6 a.m.

Waves could be higher than 18 feet, according to weather service officials. The surf advisory is scheduled to be in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Residents are advised to be cautious along the coast and to be aware of local ocean conditions, which could include rip currents and beach erosion.

The surf advisory will affect San Francisco, Santa Cruz, San Mateo, Marin, Monterey, Contra Costa, Napa, Sonoma, Santa Clara and Alameda counties, according to the weather service.
