Previously: Pedestrian Killed, Muni Delayed, By Collision At 4th And King
San Francisco police this morning arrested a 36-year-old Central California man on suspicion of driving under the influence and manslaughter after he allegedly fatally struck a pedestrian standing on a San Francisco Municipal Railways platform.
The crash took place at about 5 a.m. at Fourth and King streets, near the Caltrain station.
According to police spokesman Sgt. Wilfred Williams, Dwain Davis, of Templeton, was driving a white pickup truck southbound on Fourth Street that collided with a big-rig going eastbound on King Street.
Davis’ pickup then lost control and struck a male pedestrian standing on a Muni platform, according to Williams.
The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he died. The big-rig driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.
Davis, who was uninjured, was detained at the crash site and arrested later in the morning for driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter, according to Williams.
The crash, which impacted Muni service and vehicle traffic in the area for nearly four hours, is still under investigation.
