A woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a car on San Francisco’s Mission Street early this morning.
The accident happened at about 7:50 a.m. near Sixth and Mission streets, police spokesman Officer Samson Chan said.
Chan said the woman, a 52-year-old San Francisco resident, was jaywalking in the 900 block of Mission Street when she was hit by a gray 2006 Volkswagen sedan.
The woman was unconscious afterward and was taken to a hospital with injuries that are considered life-threatening, Chan said.
The driver, a licensed teenage boy, stopped after hitting the woman and was cooperating with police. He was not cited, Chan said.
Police shut down Mission Street between Fifth and Sixth streets to investigate the accident, Chan said.
San Francisco Municipal Railway buses were rerouted to Market Street during the closure, Muni spokesman Judson True said. Mission Street reopened at about 9:30 a.m., he said.
