A wind advisory will be in effect from 2 a.m. Tuesday to 11 a.m. Wednesday for higher elevation areas in the Bay Area because wind gusts of up to 55 mph are anticipated in those regions, the National Weather Service said.

A low pressure region is expected move into the Bay Area tonight, which would result in higher northwesterly winds beginning early Tuesday morning and lasting through Wednesday morning.

Winds are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph, with local gusts as high as 55 mph, the NWS said. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for tall vehicles.

San Francisco, Santa Cruz, San Mateo, Marin, Monterey, Contra Costa, Napa, Sonoma, Santa Clara and Alameda counties will be affected.
