9/21 11:24 AM: The San Francisco medical examiner’s office has identified two victims who died in a triple shooting near a pizzeria in the city’s Mission District on Sunday afternoon.

Francisco Cornejo, 26, and Francisco Pena, 41, of San Francisco, died in the shooting, which was reported shortly after 4 p.m. near Papa Potrero’s Pizza, located at 2700 24th St., according to the medical examiner’s office.

Arriving officers found three shooting victims and a large crime scene. Paramedics pronounced one of the victims dead there.

The other two men were taken to San Francisco General Hospital where one of them succumbed to injuries suffered in the shooting, according to San Francisco police Sgt. Wilfred Williams.

The third victim suffered injuries that are not believed to be life threatening, Williams said.
Gang task force officers and plainclothes officers from the Mission Station were in the area at the time of the shooting, and after a description of the shooting suspects was released, they were able to immediately identify the suspects, according to police.

The officers went to where the suspects lived, which was in close proximity to the shooting. Two men were detained within 10 minutes of the shooting and were later arrested, police said.

The San Francisco Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in their investigation of the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact the homicide unit at (415) 553-1145 or the confidential tip line at (415) 575-5555.

The shooting occurred at about 4 p.m. near the intersection of 24th and Hampshire streets, according to police.

Three people were shot, and one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The other two victims were transported to San Francisco General Hospital where one of them succumbed to injuries suffered in the shooting, according to police.

No information was immediately available about possible arrests in connection with the shooting, police said.
