To the dismay of the Golden Gate Bridge District, Caltrans says that the connection between Doyle Drive and SB Park Presidio (Hwy 1) will be permanently closed for three years during construction.
The connection between Doyle and NB Park Presidio could also be closed for 1 to 1.5 years. Despite this mega-inconvenience, the Doyle Drive Replacement project project is actually on a faster track than originally planned, due to Pelosi’s earmark on $2 million of federal funding.
Once the connector is reopened, some wonder if Gap founder Donald Fisher family will open a private art museum at this Presidio location — after having scrapped the Main Post comissary site.
