A San Francisco woman was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday after being convicted earlier this year of killing her young daughter and attempting to kill her son during a suicide attempt in 2006, prosecutors said.

Linda Woo, 43, was sentenced in San Francisco Superior Court to 25 years to life in prison for first-degree murder and received a concurrent life-in-prison sentence for attempted murder with premeditation and deliberation, according to prosecutors.

On March 29, 2006, Linda Woo was found inside a car with her two unconscious children, her 3-year-old daughter Olive and 4-year-old son Carter, in the garage of the family’s Ingleside Terrace home. Olive was pronounced dead at the scene, while Carter later recovered at the hospital.

Prosecutors alleged that Woo, whose marriage had dissolved and whose recent boyfriend had left her, was attempting to asphyxiate herself and her two children with carbon monoxide by lighting a portable barbecue inside the car.

Woo was found guilty April 21 of the first-degree murder and attempted murder with premeditation and deliberation charges.

The jury then sat through a second trial on Woo’s sanity at the time of the suicide attempt and in May the jury returned verdicts of sane on both counts.
