Suspect Allegedly Sets Fire To Bayview Home After Assault, Robbery

A house in San Francisco’s Bayview District was damaged Saturday morning after a suspect allegedly assaulted and robbed a person inside the home and set several fires in the living room.

Around 5:45 a.m., police officers and fire crews responded to the 1700 block of Oakdale Avenue for a report of an assault and robbery, as well as a fire, according to fire department spokesman Jonathan Baxter.

A 34-year-old woman had come to the house to visit a resident there. The suspect, who was also at the home, became involved in an argument with the woman, police said.

The suspect then punched the victim with a closed fist and took her wallet. Afterward, the suspect started several fires inside the home, according to police.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. One dog was rescued from inside and was reunited with its owner, Baxter said. The victim was not seriously injured.

The suspect, described as a man in his 20s, had not been apprehended as of this morning, according to police.
